• New rules for the use of antimicrobials in pig production

    Ukraine has updated the principles and rules for the use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine. This is an important step in the fight against antibiotic resistance and ensuring the health of animals and consumers, implemented by the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders as part of the technical assistance project ‘Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine’ with the support of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

    Ukraine continues to conduct microbiological monitoring of bacterial pathogens in pigs as part of the project of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) "Keeping Animals Healthy in Ukraine". The research included determining antibiotic susceptibility using the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method.
